Nils Ušakovs, mayor of Riga
Nils Ušakovs was born on June 8, 1976 in Riga, where completed his primary and secondary education. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Riga in 1999, and in 2002 his master's degree in the field of European integration in Denmark.
Until 2005 he worked as a journalist, and in 2005 became a member of the Party of National Harmony (National Harmony Party). In October 2006, elected as a member of the Latvian Parliament, and in July 2009 as the mayor of Riga, and Chairman of the Council of the city of Riga; for the same place he was re-elected in 2013.
Ušakovs speaks Russian, English, German, Danish and Swedish.
